Now Introducing…
FSMA has added two great resources to our team – Laura Schwait and Carla Broadway. They said, “We are honored to be joining this amazing group of educators, staff, and parents.” And FSMA is honored to have them join us!
Laura has been a school counselor for 15 years and Carla has 18 years of counseling and behavior support service experience.
Along with teachers and parents, they will help students succeed in their academic goals as well as support social and emotional growth throughout the school year.
What do they do? Laura and Carla work with teachers AND with students. Services might be in-class support or out-of-class counseling sessions. Counseling sessions in a school setting are typically short-term in nature and focus on solutions to help children succeed in all areas of development. Counseling activities can include individual or group counseling, whole class presentations and observations. Many of these activities will focus on helping students learn ways to build positive social skills, gain confidence in their ability to interact with others and learn ways to deal with problems and conflicts constructively.
We are excited to have such experienced staff and know that their impact will be great. If you would like your child to see one of them for something, please email Liz Madden – liz.madden@fsma.k12.de.us and she will set it up.
And, if you see Laura (crossing guard at arrival or dismissal) or Carla (bus staff at arrival and dismissal), be sure to say hello as they are excited to get to know children and families!
