The Montessori Difference

The mission of First State Montessori Academy is to create successful, contributing, life-long learners in a Montessori public educational program for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.

First State Montessori Academy will provide parents and students with an authentic, time-tested, Montessori education in a public school. We believe that the creation of a Montessori public school in New Castle County, DE will improve student learning, allow for greater choice for parents, and serve as a model for alternative approaches to education by providing a proven and innovative teaching and learning environment.

Some of Our Proud Parents
We were extremely fortunate to get into this school. What we did not know is how much FSMA would exceed our expectations.
We continue to be grateful for the absolutely wonderful environment you have created for all children.  I truly believe that you do helps to make the world a better place.
I wish I could have learned in an environment like this... I can only imagine what doors would have been opened and interests would have been peaked.
Montessori was something we always wanted for our children but was beyond our reach financially... until now.  FSMA has given us an option that we never thought was feasible.  Thank you, FSMA!

One year ago…. we had just wrapped up 2 days of parent/teacher conferences and were getting ready for a Staff Professional Development Day.  Six of our teachers had cancelled a trip to Texas for the annual American Montessori Conference due to concerns that something called COVID-19 might be headed our way.  Looking up words like [...]

What Happens if it Snows?

Winter is here and we wanted to share some information about inclement weather and its impact on our operations… and answer the question on many people’s minds – will we have school if it snows? We encourage everyone to remember the importance of Montessori practical life experience.  Winter brings lots of opportunities for new practical life [...]
