How do classrooms study the holidays?
In the winter season, there are a number of cultural celebrations. In many ways, winter celebrations are centered on community so it is a great opportunity to inspire a spirit of gratefulness and goodwill in our Montessori classrooms. As children learn and study some of the cultural celebrations, there is an opportunity to learn about the purpose of traditions and to compare the different celebrations. Some of the things classrooms will do include studying the history and cultural significance of different holidays and sharing their own traditions with each other.
As a school, we also have our own tradition… the day before the winter break is Pajama Day!
