Thinking Outside of the Box!
Middle School Science classes were definitely being forced to think outside of the box as they participated in an escape-room-style educational challenge designed to get kids to work together and use what they’ve learned in class in an “out of the box” way. A story sets up the mission and then groups had to use clues and background knowledge to “break out.” The level of engagement was so high and hearing things like “Hey, I think I’ve got something” and “Could it be…” were great signs that the four C’s of 21st century learning – creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking – were happening!
